a stock photo?

I think this is stock photo potential. I shifted the hue to red to give it more of a fall look. Florida leaves don't change all that much in the fall; they go straight to brown.

fire

I like this photo but it feels like there should be something in the black space. Maybe I will use it for the base of another weird project.

More of my hadiwork with Photoshop - removing powerlines from what was a good shot.

Cows & mist

The day after Thanksgiving I woke early and it was foggy. It made for some great shots. I was so excited to take the pictures I forgot to put on shoes. Mom laughed at me as I ran around the yard taking pictures.

Compare image one and image three, they are of the same tree, I just took out the fence in the first.

Memphis' crush

I don't know what it was but Memphis would not leave Otis alone. She did not want to attack she just watched him. I think Memphis misses our old cat Anubis.

The watched

Memphis watches Otis, yeah Milo is watching Memphis. Otis was ignoring everyone...

The watcher

Ouch

This makes me happy not to be a cow, yeah it cow hair caught in the barbed wire.

Cows make better pictures than familyI

I go and spend Thanksgiving with my family and do I take pictures of the friends and family that share this wonderful holiday together, nope. I spend 2 hours walking around taking puctures of Dad's cows. I have pictures of people but I don't like them as much.

A small variation

Change the angle of the eyes and you change the mood of the picture. One begs to be color the other a harsh black and white. Did I make the right choice?

a thought

I think again I was trying too hard with this one, I was trying to recreate a perfect moment when I photographed Jake a few weeks ago. I didn't work out. I think I needed a ladder to get the right angle.

Love it? HATE it!

I like these but at the same time I hate them. Too posed looking, the beer bottle is awkward in the top one and the laugh is fake in the second.

Maybe I am trying too hard with this one. Too Herb Ritz? Maybe a too much Bruce Webber? I guess I should find my own style...

Ol' Blue Eyes

Alec wanted to know what he would look like with blue eyes, I guess he wants to look like a stereotypical German. I think I did a pretty good job with Photoshop.

Smirk

Which of these is better? I like the black and white myself.

My God Son

This was taken a few months ago when I was still shooting 35 mm. The quality of the pictures is so different. I had to work on this for an hour in Photoshop to get it to look like this. Dust and finger prints alone are enough to make a person switch to digital.

My good friend does a favor

This is Alec, I have another shot of him that I posted before. He let me use him as a model so I could get some practice for some things that I have in the spring. He is such an eassy person to work; the camera loves him!

Let me know waht you think. We took 100 total shots and together we picked 25 that are good. What do you think?

Bright Future

Alec

Alec is an amazing young man, he moved for Germany to the U.S. to improve his english. Most people would just hang around and talk to other people but not him. He goes out and gets a job in a restaurant.

Matt as Model

My first attempt at working with a model. This was shot just before he went off to Tallahasee. He's doing really well up there. I think someday he will write the great American novel... Or maybe just something everyone will want to read. He is a great writer.

Something new

Well I took the big plunge and set up a a web page to show off my work. I will still use this as the starting point for posting because it is much simpler to use. If you want to check it out go to www.madkhemist.com

You can leave me comments there or come back heare and let me know what you think!

Broken Palm

The winds in a hurricane change direction after the eye passes. This causes a lot of damage, things that were bent and weakened in one direction are more susceptible to being pushed over when the winds come from the other direction.

The palm fronds will look like this for months.

Believe It or Not

I did not put this water bottle here I found it this way after the storm while walking my dogs. I figure if a tornado can drive a piece of straw through a telephone pole; why not this?

110 m.p.h.

Wilma was supposed to be a quick category 2 storm with the strongest winds and heaviest rains on the leading southern edge of the storm. The back half was a category 3 storm with winds in excess of 120 mph! These can do a lot of damage.

No Power

One of the big issue in post hurricane recovery is restoring electricity. Over 3 million homes and businesses were without power following the storm in the five county area. Ninety percent of Palm Beach and Broward Counties were in the dark the first night after the storm.

We lost our power at 9:15 a.m. EDT (-5:00 UT) on October 24. The power was resorted yesterday at 1:00 p.m. EST (-6:00 UT). I never understood just how addicted I am to my technology.

Luxor in the Eye

Luxor does not do well during storms. She climbs up on the couch or what ever you are sitting on and tries to hide behind your back. It is very uncomfortable to have a shivering, whining, drooling, 90 lbs (40 kg) dog trying to shove her whole body under you. Memphis the black dog is much better about storms but this one had her a little edgy. During the eye of the storm we went out and surveyed the damaged. This is what Luxor did for almost the whole time we were out, that is expect for those things that dogs do when the go out.

What is it?

This is not the best photo in the world but I think it gives an idea go just how powerful a hurricane can be. The winds in my area where clocked at about 100+ mph.

This is vegitation that was chewed by the winds then caught in the fence surrounding a baseball diamond near my house.
